Apple partners with OpenAI to introduce ChatGPT on iPhones

Apple made waves at its highly anticipated Worldwide Developers Conference on Monday, unveiling a host of groundbreaking features, according to a report by the BBC.

In a bid to stay ahead in the artificial intelligence race, the tech giant introduced a new AI system called “Apple Intelligence.” This personalized AI is designed to streamline user interactions across Apple devices, making navigation more intuitive.

During the event, Apple revealed plans for Siri to integrate directly with ChatGPT across iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia. This partnership with OpenAI promises enhanced responses from Siri by leveraging ChatGPT’s advanced capabilities in understanding both text and images seamlessly.

Notably, Siri will seek user permission before querying ChatGPT, ensuring privacy and user control. The integration extends beyond voice commands, with ChatGPT set to assist in Apple apps like Writing Tools and the Compose Music video editor.

Apple clarified that users can access ChatGPT for free without needing an account, while subscribers to ChatGPT can seamlessly connect their accounts to access premium features directly from these applications.

Apple Intelligence is slated for release later this year, with additional features rolling out gradually over the next year, marking a significant leap forward in user-centric AI innovation from Apple.
