Simon Cowell faced profound grief following the deaths of both his parents – his father, Eric, in 1999 and his mother, Julie, in 2015 – marking the lowest point in his life.
The 64-year-old television personality recently opened up about this dark period on The Diary Of A CEO podcast, revealing that he struggled with suicidal ideation, where thoughts of dying were present though not acted upon.
Reflecting on that time, Cowell described it as deeply bleak, acknowledging how people can reach a point where life loses its significance.
He clarified, “Not thinking I want to take my own life, but thinking if something terrible happened it wouldn’t bother me, to myself.”
However, Cowell found a renewed sense of purpose and happiness when his fiancée, Lauren Silverman, revealed she was pregnant.
This news, he shared, “changed everything in my life” and brought him joy once more.
