Cristiano Ronaldo attempted to justify his obscene gesture during Al-Nassr’s Saudi Pro League match against Al-Shabab by making light of remarks made by rival Lionel Messi.
According to Goal, the Portuguese player, who has spoken his thoughts about the incident, might be fined and suspended for two matches as a result of his actions.
As per Saudi Arabian publication Al-Riyadiya, CR7 said in a statement: “I respect all clubs. And the joy after the shot expresses strength and victory, and it is not shameful. We are used to it in Europe.”
The goal poacher might be suspended for two matches for his gesture, and Al-Nassr would definitely suffer if he were to miss out.
With 22 goals this season, the Portuguese forward leads the division in the Golden Boot rankings. In his previous eight Saudi Pro League games, he scored nine goals.
The Portuguese International is still waiting to hear whether he will face consequences, according to Marca.
