Ewan Mitchell, known for his portrayal of Aemond Targaryen in House of the Dragon, recently made a surprising revelation.

According to Deadline’s report on Saturday, June 8, the 27-year-old actor, who is currently promoting the second season of the Game of Thrones prequel, confessed in an interview with Comic Book that he has never watched the original series.

“I haven’t seen the original Game of Thrones,” Mitchell admitted when asked about his character’s potential interactions with characters from GoT.

Mitchell explained his decision further, stating, “I have a confession to make. I’ve never seen it, and I didn’t want to watch it going into this role.”

He emphasized that he intentionally avoided watching Game of Thrones so that it wouldn’t influence his portrayal of Aemond in any way, consciously or subconsciously.

“I wanted to bring something fresh. Aemond is one of a kind,” Mitchell added.

In addition to Mitchell’s revelation, the highly anticipated second season of the spinoff is set to premiere on June 16. House of the Dragon creator George R.R. Martin had previously teased details about the upcoming series in December 2023.
