TikTok is currently testing a new feature similar to Snapchat’s “Streak” to enhance user engagement and broaden its app’s appeal, as reported by Tech Crunch.
This feature, currently in a limited trial phase, encourages users to maintain consecutive days of messaging to sustain a streak. TikTok has acknowledged the testing but has not disclosed specific details.
According to reports, users will need to exchange messages for three consecutive days to initiate and maintain a streak.
A visual badge indicating the streak and a count of continuous days will appear in the chat interface. The streak can break if no messages are exchanged within 24 hours after the last one.
TikTok plans to send reminders when streaks are at risk of ending, prompting users to send messages and continue their streaks.
For those who prefer not to participate, the option to disable the feature will be available under privacy settings, accessed through the notifications panel.
The primary goal behind introducing this feature, as stated by TikTok, is to boost user engagement and encourage prolonged usage of the platform.
